Controversy in Parliament (Unpublished)

Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Abhishek Manu Singhvi finds himself in the spotlight this weekend after a wad of currency notes was discovered at his seat, number 222. The finding came to light during a routine anti-sabotage check of the chamber.
The revelation sparked massive uproar, with the ruling party and the opposition engaging in a heated war of words. The incident led to the adjournment of the Upper House. Singhvi described the discovery as bizarre and has personally called for a detailed investigation into the matter.
Following the incident, Singhvi stated that he only carries one ₹500 notes and has provided an alibi to support his innocence. He claims that between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM, he was in the canteen with fellow MP Ayodhya Rami Reddy, and that he left the compound at 1:30 PM.
Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, emphasized that a conclusion can only be reached after a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, House Leader J. P. Nadda criticized the opposition, stating they seem more focused on disruptions in the House when the Treasury benches raise issues. He also stressed that this is a serious incident requiring unity between the opposition and the Treasury in the investigation.
The Congress party has hit back at the ruling BJP. Jairam Ramesh, head of the Congress communications department, dismissed the allegations as part of the BJP’s “diversionary tactics.”
While the results of the probe are awaited, the incident has provided the BJP with an opportunity to smear the Congress's reputation, while the Congress remains steadfast in refuting the claims.
