BJP Nab Victory From the Jaws of Defeat (Unpublished)

In a massive turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might be sharing the spoils of victory in Haryana as they cross the halfway mark in seats procured. After months of hype for this election, pegged as ‘BJP v Congress’ it is the incumbent party who will continue to stay in power.

While in the early exit polls Congress had a big lead, the BJP managed to pull things back. The BJP now secured 49 of the 90 seats available while Congress has procured 35. The IND received 4 seats while both the INLD and BSP got one seat each.

This is also the first time that a party has won assembly elections in Haryana three times in a row.

Current Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who took office in March of this year after then CM Manohar Lal Khattar was moved to Delhi, has taken the mantle of being President of the BJP in Haryana and is tipped to continue serving as the CM if the BJP do end up victorious after all the votes have been counted.

However, that seat is a coveted one and there are other candidates primed to take over from Saini. Anik Vij, another politician associated with the BJP has a sparkling track record while serving as a cabinet minister in the Haryana government cabinet. Let’s also not forget to mention Captain Abhimanyu Singh Sindhu, who is regarded as an icon of the nation, is also a key political figure and has been independently managing eight departments in Haryana.

While the votes are still being counted, at this point it is merely a formality. We see a replay of the Chattisgarh elections as the BJP manages to nab a state that most touted to go towards the Congress Party.
